Zara's yellow jacket was Instagram's first viral garment.
Before its spontaneous appearance on the streets of our geography (and,
consequently, in the virtual world), there had already been other sales success
stories turned into plagues, but nothing comparable. The most famous Indicted
hunter invaded closets, headlines and social networks to the point of having
their own profiles. It set a precedent and, for many, it marked a before and
after it was no longer useful to go shopping in search of something flattering
and appetizing, it was also necessary to develop a certain sense of smell to
intuit if it had possibilities of flooding everything. Despite the precautions,
Zara has repeated a feat with various garments during this time and reached the
peak of vitality again this summer with the white polka dot dress.
The analyzes surrounding these garments are multiple and
would yield several articles, but the questions at hand are more specific: how
many of those who bought the hackneyed yellow jacket is still wearing it? What
have those who do it done with it? They refuse to wear it? Is it embarrassing
to be seen with a low-cost piece that everyone has? Below we collect eight
testimonials from women who in their day decided to purchase the jacket.
Repentance, modesty, indifference and even pride are some of the shared
feelings. And yes, many of them still have the blissful mustard jacket.
I bought it to do the grace with a friend, Marta Platen when we realized the virility of the garment. In fact, which became almost more
viral than the jacket itself. We had a great time for a few months, we started
uploading our own photos and then people sent us their images from all the
cities in Spain. The account came out in the media and on television, even
foreign. To this day I no longer have the jacket, I left it in a bag with
clothes that I no longer put on my door and after five minutes a man opened it,
took it and left. The truth is that the last time I entered Zara was to buy it
from me. I usually use clothes that suit my style regardless of the brand, who
wears them or if they are fashionable, but I don't buy from Zara
I had been behind a biker for a while, but I wanted it to be
different and not the typical black woman who always saw the streets. One day I
entered Zara with the idea of buying
one and I found this one, available in two colors: burgundy and mustard. I
spent a couple of days thinking about what tone to choose and when I went back
to the store to find her they told me that she was exhausted because she was
selling very well. A friend recommended a resale to me where I could find her,
but the prices were exorbitant for a jacket. Everything was impediments, so I
gave up. A few days later my mother appeared at home with the jacket because
they had replaced it. All my friends told me that it was the most wanted
garment and that everyone wore it, but that gave me a bit the same given that I
spent several weeks putting it on and did not find anyone who had it. It is
true that later I started to see more and more people with her. Strolling
through the center of Madrid was synonymous with running into six other girls
with your same jacket. Despite this, to this day I am still very happy with the
purchase and I do not regret it. In fact, I still use it
as Influencer and founder of the clothing brand (30 years old).
I remember that the fury over the yellow jacket caught me in Mexico. At that
time I lived in Playa del Carmen and there it never went viral. Even though I
was dying of heat, I was happy with her and she drew a lot of attention (I
don't know if she was wearing a american flag jacket in the middle of the Caribbean or
because of the color). The truth is that since then I have not worn it again,
although it is still in my closet. I got to put it up for sale on Vented, but
then I regretted it and pulled it back. I thought that the piece that I liked a
lot in its day and it tasted bad to sell it. Nor do I think anyone was
interested in such a garment however cheap it was (or maybe yes, who knows).
Although I am very basic when it comes to dressing, I always try to wear a
current garment, something that fast fashion makes much easier for us, I don't
care if it goes out of style later on. ”
